A Love Letter to a Book

I first met you in a book store.
Your appearance was so-so, and nothing really caught my eyes
But somehow, I'm drawn to you for an explicable reason.
And I took you back home with me.

What a surprise!

You are full of warmth, laughter, and kindness
You also have some dark sides, but that can't be helped
You make me laugh, you make angry, and you make me cry
Most important of all, you make me feel again.

I don't want your story to end. It's too soon to end.
And yet, here I am, on the last pages of your story.
Should I feel sad, that your story is about to end?
Should I feel contented, for all the happiness and feelings you gave me?

I think I decided that I would be happy instead.
Even though your story ends here, it would always be within me.
In a way, you will always be with me.
Even if I forget about you and your story somehow, the feelings would remain.
I just have to take one look at you, and somehow, the wholeness of your story would unravel itself again, from the beginning to the end.

So, thank you.
Thank you for being there for me, for giving me all you have to me.
Thank you for silently offering your warmth freely even when I'm down on the dirt.
Thank you for not judging me, even if the whole world is against me (or so I felt!)
Thank you for everything.
May I be worthy enough to keep you with me for as long as it is possible,
and may our relationship lasts until the end.

Sincerely,

Your reader
